Patient Advocacy
Advocacy: HCAN plays a vital role in advocating for community health centers by leveraging their strengths, promoting their value, and educating on the health center mission. We serve as champions for community health centers, recognizing them as essential assets within our healthcare system and foundations of wellness within our communities. Through our advocacy efforts, we strive to amplify their impact, elevate their voices, and ensure they have the resources and support they need to fulfill their crucial mission.
HCAN educates our federal, state, and local policymakers about community health centers including:
Education:
Educating the importance of robust funding and resources for community health centers at the local, state, and federal levels. We highlight the value of community health centers in providing cost-effective, comprehensive care and the importance of investing in their growth.
Workforce:
Informing policymakers of solutions to address workforce challenges facing community health centers, including recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals in Nebraska. We educate on efforts to expand training opportunities, loan repayment programs, and other incentives to attract and retain a qualified workforce.
