Non-medical drivers of health (NMDH)
Recognizing the Power of Non-medical Drivers: At community health centers, we understand that health is not just about medical care—it’s shaped by a wealth of factors rooted in our daily lives. Non-medical drivers such as access to education, stable housing, nutritious food, and economic opportunity profoundly influence our well-being. We recognize these drivers not as barriers, but as powerful assets that, when leveraged effectively, can fuel positive change within communities.
Empowerment Through Education and Advocacy: Central to our advancing the health center movement mission is the belief that informed individuals are empowered individuals. We provide comprehensive education on the social drivers of health, equipping community members with the knowledge and tools they need to advocate for themselves and their families.
HCAN support to health centers: We provide health centers with 1:1 support for NMDH screening and referrals process management, ensuring they can address their patients’ needs as they arise. A monthly peer network facilitated by HCAN provides space to share best practices, up-to-date education, and answer NMDH specific questions that may arise.
