HCAN is dedicated to supporting the recruitment, retention and expansion of the health center workforce. Through training and technical assistance, HCAN assists health centers with strategic workforce initiatives, including:
- HRSA’s Health Professions Education & Training (HP-ET) Program
- Apprenticeships
- Grow Your Own
- Pipeline Programs
- Development and implementation of health center comprehensive and strategic workforce plans
- Marketing of current job opportunities on HCAN’s Career Center
- Collaborating with local, state, and national healthcare organizations and partners
- Developing and expanding partnerships with Area Health Education Centers (AHEC), community colleges, universities and post-graduate institutions

- Nebraska Loan Repayment: Nebraska Loan Repayment Programs are available to primary care, mental, dental and allied health professionals practicing in shortage areas in Nebraska. Learn More >
- National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment: National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment is available to primary care, mental, dental and allied health professionals practicing in shortage areas in Nebraska. All Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) are automatically eligible sites. Successful applicants receive up to $50,000 for two years of full-time service and up to $25,000 for part-time service. Learn More >
- Nurse Corp Loan Repayment and Scholarship Programs: Eligible nursing students can apply to the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program (Nurse Corps SP). Scholarships can pay for tuition, fees and other education costs. You are able to work at a Critical Shortage Facility (CSF) when you graduate. Learn More >
